My 2019 Goals (Reviewed)

Note: Below are my 2019 goals with an update from the start of 2020.

2019 is here and the internet is swamped with #NewYearNewMe styled posts. So what harm is one more?

Going into a New Year can sometimes be daunting. Everyone has so much hope and expectations that I sometimes find a lot of pressure comes as the clock turns to midnight, I find, the best way to stay focused is to not make resolutions but to set goals and make a list of things you would like to get done by this time next year, With that in mind, here is the list of goals I would like to achieve in 2019.

1. Visit 3 new Countries

Until I have travelled the world, this will always be a goal for me. I currently have my first holiday of the year booked. VEGAS!! I have never been so I am really looking forward to this. 🙂

The new countries/states I visited in 2019 were:

  1. Las Vegas
  2. Toronto
  3. Tenerife
  4. New York

2. Do Something Good for Charity

I have been growing my hair for around three years now with the intention of donating it to the Rapunzel Foundation. I am making the cut early in the New Year (3rd of Jan) and also fundraising for the charity too. If you would like to start your year off with a good deed, you can donate here.

I did this and kept the short do for the year. I will try to grow it out in 202o.

3. Complete a Tough Mudder

I have been working for Tough Mudder Ireland now for four years and have yet to complete a Tough Mudder course. Obviously, I’ve tried (and failed) many of the obstacles but I’ve never run a full course. Mainly because I work at the Irish event so if I were to do a Tough Mudder I would have to go to the UK. But I hope to do that this year and by signing up for a Tough Mudder, I’m hoping this will motivate me to stick to the gym classes.

I am now a Tough Mudder Legionnaire. 😀 AND, I have named a Tough Mudder Ireland Ambassador for 2020. Read more about my Tough Mudder Experience here.

4. Take part in the Disney Half Marathon

A few years ago I took part in the Dingle Half Marathon and I swore I would never do it again. But how could I say no to the Disney one? Also, this might motivate me to complete the couch to 5k training app that I have restarted 4 times now.

Unfortunately, due to a toe injury that I ended up having to get minor surgery on this didn’t happen for me in 2019. But I’ll carry it over to my 2020 goals. 🙂

5. Finish the 3 books I started in 2018

Last year I started to read:

  1. It Takes a Tribe by Will Dean – I have yet to finish this
  2. Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg – I also have to finish this
  3. A Complete Aisling by Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen – Okay this one I did finish

I think it’s about time I finished at least one of them.

Well, at least I finished one out of three. I also read ‘clean’ by Juno Dawson. Loved this book.

6. Make Tiarnagh Cookies

While writing this I left my laptop down to put more turf in the fire and Tiarnagh (My youngest sister) added this in… I better go preheat the oven…

I made Tiarnagh multiple batches of cookies throughout the year. lol

As the year goes on, I will keep referring back to this list to make sure I’m staying on track. I’ll let you know every time I complete part of the list too.

Have a great year everyone!

Ciara x
