In May I took part in my first Tough Mudder. I travelled to Tough Mudder Midlands in the UK and took part in the full course. Although it was my first Tough Mudder, I am no stranger to Tough Mudder as I work for Tough Mudder Ireland.
Dare 2B is Tough Mudders new apparel sponsor and they were kind enough to gift me with a kit to wear as we took on the course.
If you are thinking about taking part in a Tough Mudder event, be it the 5k or full here is what I would suggest wearing plus some tips on how to wear it.
These runners were wonderfully lightweight but still had decent grip. One thing I find when I run is that my feet always overheat, the lightweight fabric of these runners solved that problem for me as I found they were very breathable. They were super easy to clean up after too. For extra security, I tied them in a knot, looped the laces under my foot and tied the laces in a double knot again. I didn’t have a problem with them at all on course and would highly recommend them.
Dare 2B Women’s Sprint City Lightweight Hoodie Meteor Grey
I didn’t actually wear this while out on course but I was so glad to have it to put on after. It’s become one of my favourite hoodies. It’s so soft, the hood is a good size (for my big head ;)), it’s light yet warm and cuddly and it has holes for your thumbs which I always love.
This t-shirt held up surprisingly well. I didn’t think I’d ever get all the mud out of it or that it would last in all the abuse it got on course but it did. It didn’t retain the water too much so it didn’t keep you cold and when you did get wet it dried off fairly easy. Although I loved the t-shirt if I were to do another Tough Mudder I would make sure to wear a long sleeve top. My elbows got destroyed.
I wouldn’t usually be a patterned leggings kind of girl but I loved these. Although they were super light they were in no way see-through and were so comfortable to wear. Like the tshirt, they dried off fast and didn’t retain water. They stayed up aswell. I hate when leggings keep falling down as you move and this wasn’t the case with this pair.
Dare 2B Women’s Exhilarate Sports Bra Black White
The sports bra matching the leggings was so cool. I loved that. The bra was very comfortable and supportive. It has padding and a very flattering ross design on the straps on the back.
Overall, I loved the full kit and how it all went together and matched so well. The whole kit was lightweight, comfortable and with a long sleeve top under the tshirt, it would be complete.
Thank you so so much to Dare 2B for setting me up with the kit and making sure we looked the biz out on course.
If you want to shop any of the kit the pictures link to the pages and there is also 30% off the site at the moment.
- If I were to do it again I would wear gloves. Not cotton ones but ones that would help with grip.
- I didn’t wear my Fitbit. The water and mud would have destroyed it and I was afraid of losing it.
- I did wear a GoPro on my head. If you are doing this make sure to keep cleaning the lens and make sure it stays on your head in the water. The last thing you want is having to go back into Arctic Enema to go looking for a camera.
What to bring for after Tough Mudder
We didn’t bother using the rinsing area. If I’m honest I just wanted to get back to the hotel to shower. So after our finishing beer, we went straight to the car where I completely changed. Bring a spare pair of everything. Underwear, socks, shoes, pants, bra, top, hoody, everything! Make sure to bring a big towel to wrap around you so you can change in peace. I made the mistake of bringing leggings with me. There is nothing worse than trying to get into tight pants when your cold, wet and muddy. Bring loose pants and a loose and warm top/hoody and flipflops.
