Non Cruelty-Free Products I Miss

About a year or so ago I decided to clean out my makeup drawer. Between being obsessed with makeup as a teenager and working in Brown Thomas where I would win the odd treat or get the odd freebie, I had accumulated quite a lot of makeup. Most of which I hardly ever used.

To make my decision easier while making the cuts, I decided whatever brands weren’t cruelty-free were getting the chop. It turns out, nearly ALL of the brands are tested on animals. I was genuinely shocked by this.

Then and there, I made the decision to try and go cruelty-free with my makeup. I kept what I used on a daily basis as there was no point in being wasteful. I gave the rest of it to my youngest sister. Slowly, as I use more and more of my old makeup up and replace it with a cruelty-free brand my makeup bag is becoming closer to being 100% cruelty-free.

The process of switching was fun. Getting to try new brands and makeups. However, there are a few products that I have found hard to replace and truly miss from my makeup bag. Here are the top non-cruelty free products that I miss.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

Remember when this was all the rage? My friends and I were obsessed with this product when we were around 13/14. Although, a lot of people found that it dried out their skin I always loved it. Although, I didn’t use it all over my face. First. I used a base foundation and then applied a little of the Dream Matte Mousse over my t-zone and anywhere I had a blemish. I always found that it made the skin look flawless.

M.A.C Soft & Gentle highlighter

I LOVED this highlighter. It was aptly named and it really did give a soft and gentle glow and it was hard to go overboard with it. Any highlighter I have tried since has been the opposite. I’ve found them all very easy to go overboard with and quite hard to get a soft glow.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

I don’t think this even needs explaining. Every Irish girl seems to be obsessed with this bronzer and I really hope Benefit become cruelty-free soon. My pale complexion depends on it.

If anyone can suggest any good cruelty-free replacements for these products I would really appreciate it. In the meantime, I will continue my search and let you know if I find anything good.
